Scoring Stats Game Story (by Mike Gastonguay - sportsWIRE) The Hockey gods were not smiling on sportsWIRE. We had expected a great game from the 2001 Hockey East championship, and settled for a open, 5-3 game. That night, we hit our knees and prayed to the gods for a great championship hockey game. The Hockey Gods pulled through. Boston Latin struck first, but they followed a pattern that was apparent
during sportsWIRE's championship weekend. This would be the fourth straight
game in which the team who scores first would lose. Danvers found themselves
behind in the third period, but Bryan Duggan lead to boys in blue to a
4-3 victory as he scored the game winner with less than a minute on the
clock. Danvers laughs last, and laughs hardest as they claim the Division
II State title.
